However, we know that in Canada most people between the ages of 15 to 55 consume alcohol, even if it is only occasionally. Sometimes, pregnant individuals consume alcohol before they know they are expecting.
Sometimes, to stop consuming alcohol can be complicated by family histories, cultural norms, experiencing trauma, addiction, and feeling unwell when detoxing.
